Lewis is an experienced Executive and Career Coach and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.

He spent most of his 33 year career with BP progressing to become an Exploration and Appraisal Manager in the Exploration division. Throughout this period, he also actively pursued his other keen interest in developing people. Roles included leading BP’s geoscience recruitment in Europe, the early development of BP’s European graduates and more recently the global development and delivery of the company’s technical leadership programme.

In 2011, to develop his people facing skills more formally, Lewis started to train at the Institute of Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy in Hendon and qualified as psychotherapeutic counsellor in 2017.

Upon leaving BP in 2015 he set up his own private practice. Most recently he has worked as a coach and counsellor at several oil companies, at Eton College and several prestigious universities, (Imperial, Southampton, and the Helmholtz Institute in Germany). As well as seeing private clients at home, he also has experience as a therapist at a Counselling Centre in Ealing. Lewis also considers himself a very committed member of the C4C associates.

Lewis enjoys working with people facing big transitions in their lives – individually or collectively in teams. This might involve offering career advice and support to an individual at any point in their career, helping them to understand for themselves what best suits them, practically and emotionally – and how to achieve it. Alternatively, somebody in a large organisation on the cusp of management may require help to develop their own leadership voice, to ensure they retain their authenticity and play from their natural strengths.

Lewis’s blend of corporate and psychotherapeutic experience provides him with the skills and empathy to guide clients through these challenging periods.

“We brought Lewis into our organisation to help our employees at a difficult time. The staff he worked with were from very diverse international backgrounds and from all levels within the company. Nevertheless, he was able to flex his style and meet his clients and their needs just where they were at that moment. As a result his impact was very positive, particularly in view of the circumstances”
